The Mind in the Cave is a creative workshop originally developed for Guerilla Archaeology and for The Wellcome Trust Festival of Neuroscience Street Fair at The Barbican, London. The workshop has since been recreated for Danny Boyle’s SHUFFLE festival in Mile End, London.

The workshop introduces the concept of ‘entoptic phenomena’ – patterns seen within the eye – through a process of blindfold drawing. After participants have been gently led through this process we explain the connection between these phenomena and the ‘form constants’ that occur across cultures and back, deep into time, to the earliest cave art.
